General Information (GMSL Cameras)#

This topic helps you to find information about Basler ace 2 GMSL cameras (GMSL = Gigabit Multimedia Serial Link).

  • Basler ace 2 GMSL cameras use high-speed electrical data signals between the camera serializer and the host deserializer. The link signals are transmitted over a coaxial FAKRA cable at a very high data rate (up to 6 Gbit/s with GMSL2). For more information about GMSL cameras (e.g., key features of the Basler ace 2 GMSL cameras), see the GMSL section on the Basler website.
  • If you want to use Basler GMSL cameras in your system, you need the following main components:
    • Basler ace 2 GMSL cameras (camera name ends with mgm or mgc)
    • Corresponding amount of lenses
    • Coaxial FAKRA cables
    • Camera Enablement Package:
Camera Enablement Packages provide out-of-the-box configuration for supported host systems that have been tested to work well with Basler ace 2 GMSL cameras. See here to download the Camera Enablement Package for your host system.
If you want to build your own system with host systems that are not supported by Basler, contact Basler technical support for help.
  • For information about the installation and configuration steps of Basler ace 2 GMSL cameras, see the Camera Installation topic. It gives an overview about the installation and configuration sequence and links to the corresponding topics where the single steps are described in detail.
